David was born and raised in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin by his parents, David and Sharon Raihle, along with his three siblings. He graduated from Chippewa Falls Senior High School in 1980. After serving in the United States Army, he enrolled at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, graduating in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and economics. Following another period of active duty in the Army, David returned to the Midwest and obtained his law degree from Hamline University School of Law in 1992. He returned to Chippewa Falls to begin his legal career. After working for a local law firm for two years, David opened his own practice, Raihle Law Office S.C., in 1995, focusing on real estate transactions, family law, probate and general civil litigation, to serve the needs of small businesses and individuals throughout the Chippewa Valley. In addition to his private practice, since 1999 David has served as a Circuit Court Commissioner in Chippewa County. Presiding in Small Claims actions, he hears civil cases where the recovery sought is less than $10,000.00.
David is married to Rita Raihle, also an attorney in Chippewa Falls, and has two children. David is very active in the Chippewa Falls business community and as a member of several organizations that promote and enhance the quality of life in the Chippewa Valley. David currently serves as the past chair and member of the Community Foundation of Chippewa County, past chair and member of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Advisory Council, board member of the Chippewa Valley Cultural Association (Heyde Center for the Arts), past president and member of the Chippewa Falls Noon Kiwanis, board member of the Chippewa Falls Area Schools Safety Patrol, Inc., member of the Chippewa Falls Military Historical Vehicle Preservation Association, LLC, and Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 13 of Chippewa Falls. David previously served as chair of the Chippewa Falls Main Street Program. He is also a member of the Free & Accepted Masons Chippewa Falls Lodge #174 and the Mehara Shrine Club of Eau Claire. He is a frequent presenter on the history of the Chippewa Valley for the Chippewa Falls Area Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Chippewa Falls program. He is a 2013 graduate of the Chippewa Falls Fire Department Citizens Academy. David and his family are active outdoorsmen and enjoy hunting, fishing, and camping together.
In addition to his legal career, David had a very distinguished military career. After enlisting in the United States Army as a combat engineer, David was nominated for the Officer Candidate School in 1982. After attending OCS, David received his commission in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. From 1982 until January of 2010, David served in the United States Army Reserve rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel and retired after serving 27 years in the United States Military. David had the opportunity to serve all over the world with the United States Army, and completed his career serving as the battalion commander for the largest battalion in the United States military, covering all the engineer forces in the states of Wisconsin and Michigan. His military experiences give David a unique insight into the issues facing his clients who have served in the United States military. He is currently a mentor in the Veteran’s Court program in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
